What is KidSafe™? KidSafe is Brodart’s proprietary system for designating titles as being appropriate for kids. Brodart does the work so libraries can feel confident selecting for young patrons and students. KidSafe titles share the following characteristics:Reviewed book-in-hand or online and judged suitable for ages 2-12 for our Children’s titles and 10 and up for our Teen titlesMaterial is both popular and high qualityIncludes hardcover, trade, and mass paper — among all classificationsInclusive of manga and other series, plus important single titles and nonfiction in graphic formatKidSafe designation is generally applied two-to-three months prepublication, with some occurring four months prepublication Selection lists:Titles are selected by Jack Phoenix, Brodart’s Graphic Novels Specialist/SelectorEvery month, Brodart creates a new Silver TIPS® KidSafe selection listThese KidSafe lists are free, and anyone can sign up to receive them (delivered to your Bibz user ID)Monthly KidSafe selection lists are also posted to Bibz® under recommended Graphic Novels listsKidSafe titles are also included in our Children’s Hardcover Purchase Plus PlanAn average of 100 titles per month are awarded KidSafe designation, but the total ranges from 70–130 titles per month
